How Dry Steam Works

“Dry” steam cleaners differ from “wet” steam cleaners in a critical way. The water molecules in dry steam cleaners are heated to 290°F or higher, not just 238°F, the required heat for producing steam.  At the higher heat, the steam has much less moisture, is much hotter and also shoots out at a much higher pressure, thus becoming a powerful tool for cleaning your home without the need for harsh chemicals and without promoting mold growth.

There are some critical things to keep in mind to make proper use of these machines:

1) Properly “burp” the machine as instructed in the video. Once the “OK” light turns green for the first time or after 30+ minutes of leaving the machine idle, one must depress the release trigger to let out the condensed water accumulated in the hose. This will cause the pressure dial to drop. Wait for the dial to reach the middle of the orange range and you may start using the machine with or without the “OK” light.

2) If you are looking to disinfect surfaces (which is only possible to do in seconds with TANCS technology) or require extreme heat for instance, to kill dust  mites, remember that using the towel over the larger brush heads will sufficiently trap the heat.

3) In order to make sure the  steam pressure dial stays in the orange zone continuously thereby ensuring the ability to use the steam continuously and to ensure extremely hot steam, always use the steamer with the opening set to low or medium, not high. The dial to set the opening on the Ladybug XL2300T is on top of the handle. If you use the steamer set to the most open position, the steam will be very impressive to see, however, it will not maintain the high heat or pressure that this machine is famous for.

4) For spot removal, remember that the process that removes the dirt and oils from the surface is heat transfer. The friction from the towels do aid in picking up soils but it’s the heat that is doing the lifting. So remember to work a spot for a little while and then work on another area and come back to the spot after it has cooled. This will allow you to work a spot over and over to remove layer after layer of soil. Staying in one spot for too long will only result in an overly damp area and the effects will not be as satisfying.
